Directions: The two expression on either side of the sign (=) will have the same value if two terms on either side or on the same side are interchanged. The correct terms to be inter-changed have been given as one of the four alternatives under each expressions. Find the correct alternative. Which one of the four interchanges in signs and numbers would make the following equation correct? \[\mathbf{6 \times  4 + 2 = 16}\]

    A) + and\[\times \], 2 and 4

    B) + and\[\times \], 4 and 6

    C) + and\[\times \], 2 and 6

    D) None of these

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

    (b) After interchanging as instructed, we get statement (a) as \[6\,\,+\,\,2\,\,\times \,\,4\,\,=\,\,16\] I.e. \[14\text{ }=\text{ }16\] which is not true. Again after interchanging + and x 4 and 6 in (b) we get \[4\,\,+\,\,6\,\,\times \,\,2=16\] I.e. \[16\,\,=\,\,16\] which is true.
