    The East India Company needed large amounts of money to invest in buying trading commodities. At first it brought gold and silver from England but later on it though of financing its trade from India itself. It also required money to maintain an army to fight wars against other European powers and Indian rulers. Also, it had to send money to England because the shareholders of the Company were paid dividends. Another major expense of the Company was paying the officvers of the administrative set up in India
