    Why are the deltas of the Krishna, Kaveri and Godavari frequently struck by cyclones? Give one adverse effect of these cyclones.

    Answer:

    (a) With the decrease in temperature over northern India, low pressure trough is shifted to the Bay of Bengal by October. This leads to formation of cyclonic depression in the Bay of Bengal.
    (b) Cyclonic winds strike the eastern coasts of Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu causing destructive and heavy rainfall.
    (c) These depressions are very destructive. They do a lot of damage to life and property in the deltas of Krishna, Godavari and Kaveri.
