Explain major determiners of the climate of a place?

    Answer:

The major determiners of the climate are:
    (a) Latitude: The temperature decreases from the equator towards the poles. Places located on low latitudes are hotter than the places on higher latitudes. Solar energy is more in lower latitudes.
    (b) Altitude: At higher altitudes the atmosphere becomes less dense and temperature decreases. Hills are cooler during summers, e.g., Simla is cooler than Delhi.
    (c) Distance from the sea: Sea has moderating inl1uence on the climate. As the distance from the sea increases, its moderating inl1uence decreases and extreme weather conditions are experienced, i.e., very hot in summer and very cold in winter, e.g., Delhi is very hot in summer and very cold in winter.
    (d) Ocean Currents: Ocean currents along with onshore winds affect the climate of the climate Any costal area with warm or cold currents 110wing past it will be cooled or warmed if the winds are onshore.
