Why does Brahmaputra in its Tibetan part have less silt, despite a longer course?

    Answer:

River Brahmputra originates beyond the Himalayas in a region surrounding Kailash mountain and Mansarowar in Tibet. It flows eastward nearly parallel to the Himalayas. At Namcha Barwa, it takes a u-turn around it and enters India in Arunachal Pradesh. While flowing in Tibet, it receives less rainfall (Tibet is in the rain-shadow of Himalayas and is a region of scanty rainfall), here the river has less volume of rainfall and has less silt. But in India, it passes through a region, which receives heavy rainfall. As such, in India the river carries a large volume of water and considerable amount of silt. It is the volume arid force of water which leads to erosion of rocks and formation of silt.
