Suggest the steps to improve the Social status of women in Indian society.

Answer:

In order to improve the social status of women in Indian society the following steps need to be take.

(i) The National Commission for Women should be strengthened so that it may take initiative in combating injustice against woman rather than acting only after a complaint, has been registered with it.

(ii) The laws regarding minimum age for marriage should be strictly enforced.

(iii) The Training-cum-Employment for women should be launched to strengthen and improve the skills and employment opportunities for women.

(iv) The Indira's Mahila Yojna should be geared up towards women's Self Employment.

Besides, a number of welfare schemes have already neon undertaken to provide access to women in education, skill development, employment, fulfilment of special necessities, gender sensitisation, etc.
