The Theosophical Society was officially formed in New York City, United States, in November 1875 by Helena Blavatsky, Henry Steel Olcott, William Quan Judge and others. Satya Shodhak Samaj was founded by Jyotirao Phule. Jyotirao formed 'Satya Shodhak Samaj' (Society of Seekers of Truth) with himself as its first president and treasurer. Sharda Sadan was founded by Ramabai.
