A man is walking at a speed of 10 km/h. After every km, he takes a rest for 5 min. How much time will he take to cover a distance of 5 km? [SSC CGL Tier II, 2014]

    A) 60 min

    B) 50 min

    C) 40 min

    D) 70 min

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

[b] Time taken to walk 1 km = 6 min Then, he takes rest for 5 min So, total distance of 1 km is covered in \[(6+5)=11\min \] Now, he carry on this process for next 4 km. So, the time taken to cover 4 km \[=11\times 4=44\min \] But now the next 1 km will be covered in 6 min. \[\therefore \] Total time taken \[=(44+6)=50\min \]
