    C)  Nallamalai Hills - Javadi Hills - Nilgiri Hills Anaimalai Hills

    D)  Nilgiri Hills - Javadi Hills - Nallamalai Hills -Anaimalai Hills

    Correct Answer: C

    Solution :

All three statements mentioned above are correct. The Himalayas are the tallest mountain ranges of the world and stand as unsurmountable wall. They save us from the severe cold winds which would have entered India in the absence of these mountain ranges. Different places in the Himalayas are the sources of great rivers like the Indus, the Ganga and the Brahmaputra as well as their tributaries. These mighty rivers and their tributaries bring huge quantities of fertile alluvial soils from the mountain areas and deposit these soils in the Indo Gangetic plain. At present this is considered to be one of the most fertile plains of the world. Had there been no Himalayas, the entire plain would be devoid of alluvial soils and it would be totally a barren plain. The Himalayas offer great obstruction to the monsoon winds coming from the Bay of Bengal. These winds cannot cross the Himalayan wall and are forced to move from east to west along the foothills of the Himalayas and cause rains in the entire Indus-Ganga-Brahmaputra plain, in addition to the mountain areas.
