     The Tarai is marked by the re-emergence of underground streams which were flowing underground in the Bhabar belt just north of the Tarai. Most of the Tarai land, especially in Punjab, Uttar Pradeshand Uttarakhand, has been reclaimed and turned into agricultural land which gives good crops of sugarcane, rice and wheat.
