    Correct Answer: D

    Solution :

The Northern Plain of India is quite wide in the west where its width is about 500km in Rajasthan. It narrows down in the east and its width is 280 km near Allahabad, 160 km near Rajmahal hills and only 60-100 km in Assam. It is more fertile in the east than in the west because its eastern part is drained by the Ganges and the Brahmaputra rivers and their several tributaries which deposit fertile alluvial soil every year.
