    The moderates and the Extremists parted ways in the Surat session of the Congress. There were differences between them on many issues which led to clashes between them. The Congress passed resolutions on Boycott, Swadeshi and national education in 1906 but the Moderates opposed them. The Extremists were not prepared to allow them to do so. An open clash resulted.
