The common microorganisms, which are used in production of single cell protein, are (i) yeast (ii) algae, (iii) moulds (Aspergillus, Penicillium, etc). The production of protein by those microorganisms is very high and most satisfactory as the microorganisms grow very fast and synthesise proteins.
