Ankita had a fight with her friend while discussing about the process of evolution. She told her friend that evolutionary process is continuous and everything around the globe is evolving. Her friend argued and said that 'we humans are not evolving'. Whom do you think is correct Ankita, her friend or both of them? Write your views about this fact.

    Answer:

Human evolution refers to the evolutionary process that leads to the appearance of anatomically modem man. When we think of human evolution, our minds wander back to the point that natural selection took thousands of years ago to produce the modern man. Different evidences clearly indicate that man has evolved from primates. Evolution is a continuous process and humans are still evolving despite modern technology and industrialisation. In last 10,000 years, the pace of our evolution has increased upto 100 times resulting in more mutations, e.g. humans are losing their wisdom teeth, becoming more resistant to various diseases and brains have shrunk in size, etc. From all these points it is clear that the statement made by Ankita is correct.
