    Solution :

    \[(a-d)+a+(a+d)=42\Rightarrow a=14\] \[\Rightarrow \]\[(a-d)\times a\times (a+d)=(14-d)\times 14\times (14+d)=2240\] \[\Rightarrow \] \[({{14}^{2}}-{{d}^{2}})=160\] \[\Rightarrow \] \[{{d}^{2}}=196-160=36\] \[\therefore \] \[d=\pm \,6\]
