The woodcutter told the God that his axe fell into the river. The God, Mercury, dived into the water. He brought out a golden axe and offered it to the woodcutter. But the woodcutter didn't accept it. It was not his. The God again jumped into the river. This time he brought an iron axe. It was the woodcutter's axe. The woodcutter accepted it. The God was pleased with him at his honesty and gave him the golden axe as a reward.
