A Scary Journey

Ravi was travelling by train. Suddenly, the train stopped and some strange-looking men entered the compartment and bolted the doors of the compartment from inside. It was about 10 p.m. at night and everyone was preparing to go to sleep. When these men entered and bolted the doors everyone was scared. Some people tried to show courage by going and asking them, but they brusquely pushed them aside. They were approaching from both the directions and surrounded the man sitting on berth S16. They handcuffed and chained him. After that they opened the doors. The platform was swarming with policemen who took the man away. Later we came to know that they had come to catch a terrorist who was carrying a human bomb on his body. It was a very scary incident.

My Best Friend

It is rightly said that a good friend is an asset. Angad my classmate is such a treasure. He is my best friend. We have common habits. We are fond of reading and playing cricket in the evening. Angad loves music too. He is very polite to everyone and respects the elders. He is a brilliant student and all the teachers in school praise him for his sincerity. Angad is very punctual in his work. I am really very proud of him. He is very generous and helps the weak students in their lessons. On a holiday, he visits my house and we enjoy free time together. Whenever If feel sad, he soothes me with his encouraging words. The saying, 'A friend in need is a friend indeed' seems to be true when I think of Angad. His cheerful nature pleases everyone. May our friendship be blessed!

Environmental Degradation

Environmental degradation is one of the major global issues. Excessive use of resources such as land or water and the rapid industrialisation are the major causes of this phenomenon. Man has been cutting trees for his selfish purposes. He does not care about its dangerous consequences. The rapid growth of population is also a major cause of environmental degradation. It promotes urbanisation, which results in congestion and environmental pollution. Hence, it is necessary to keep a check on population growth. Our industries emit smoke and discharge liquids that pollute water. Therefore, factories should not be allowed to emit large quantities of harmful effluents into the air through their chimneys. They should discharge the waste into the rivers after treating them. We must be aware of need of tree plantation and should plant trees more than cutting them, in our surroundings. It is necessary to check environmental degradation for the sake of the entire humanity.
