    Answer:

    (a) Gopal did three things before he went to buy his Hilsa-fish, namely:
    He half shaved his face.
He smeared ash on his body.
He dressed himself in ragged clothes and looked like a madman.
    (b) The dog made his masters rich by giving them gold coins. His masters became prosperous with it and bought a piece of land. He then asked them to collect the ashes which had the power to sprout the blossoms of a withered tree. This magic was seen by the daimio and he rewarded the old couple for this magic.
    (c) Mr. Nath was visited by the same man each Sunday. The man was tall, stout, fair and he wore spectacles, and was very talkative and the two used to have lunch together.
    (d) A gas, mainly carbon dioxide, is used in putting out a fire because it does not allow oxygen to reach the burning material. The use of water, on any normal fire, brings down its temperature below the flash point of that fuel. Thus, gas and water are used to put out a fire.
    (e) The cricket bats originally resembled the hockey sticks. They were curved outwards at the bottom.
The curve helped the bat to contact the ball.
    (f) It is a true fact that the trees are very useful for human beings. Along-with oxygen, they also provide us fuel and timber. Children take much interest in trees when they swing on the branches of trees.
They also play ?hide and seek? around the trees. They give us cool air. Trees provide us cool shade. They give us fruits. They give us medicinal leaves. Trees make a lovely scene for those who love painting. Human beings cannot survive without trees. In other words, we can say that trees give life.
