    Solution :

[a] During the early 1860s, the American Civil War had led to a rise in cotton exports which had pushed up prices. The end of the Civil War in 1864 brought about an acute depression in cotton exports and a crash in prices. Simultaneously, in 1867, the Government raised land revenue by nearly 50%, so Statement 1 is incorrect, as further decrease in prices and increased revenue led severe exploitation of peasants. Statement 2 is correct as Deccan was part of Ryotwari System. After Deccan riots 1875, British government passed the Deccan Agricultural Relief Act, 1879 to deal with A QT\cuftuta\ vrotebted TOSs.
