Western Asia is situated on the Western part of trade winds, so the region is primarily arid and can be subject to drought. Western Asia contains large area of mountanious terrain such as Anatolian plateau, Pontis mountain, Taurus mountain, Mount Ararat and Zagros mountain. Western Asia is one of the high economic growth regions in the world because of extremely large reservoir of petroleum and natural gas. But, this region is not the most developed or developed region of the world.
