It was launched in force from 2009-10 and it was previously as 'Integrated forest Protection Scheme' in the 10th Plan period. Center shares 90% of the cost for forest management in all North-East states including Sikkim, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Uttarakhand and for all other states and UTs center shares 75% of the cost.
