Although, originally princely states were to have 93 seats in the Constituent Assembly, but they could not be filed as the princely states decided not to join the assembly. Many of the princely states in fact joined India after much of the Constitution was already written. Statement 2 is incorrect as elections to the Constituent Assembly were done indirectly by members of provincial assemblies, who themselves had been elected on a limited franchise. Statement 3 is correct and the Constituent Assembly functioned as the provisional Parliament till the first general elections in 1951 - 52 Statement 4 is also correct. Some of the constitutional provisions regarding elections, citizenship etc came into effect on 26th November, 1949 itself. Thus, the right answer is [b].
