    Solution :

    \[9x+8y=64\]    ?(i) \[3x+4y=28\]    ... (ii) Solving equation (i) - (ii)\[\times \]3, we get 8y\[-\]12y = 64\[-\]84 \[\therefore \]  y = 5 Putting the value of y in equation (i), we get \[9x=64-40\] or, \[x=\frac{24}{9}=\frac{8}{3}\] Hence x < y
