Direction: The line graph shows the distance covered by different trains in km and the data in the table shows the time taken by different trains to cover the distance (in hours). Time taken by different trains in hours
    Train Time
    \[{{T}_{1}}\] 30 hours
    \[{{T}_{2}}\] 9 hours 40 minutes
    \[{{T}_{3}}\] 17 hours 30 minutes
    \[{{T}_{4}}\] -
    \[{{T}_{5}}\] 21 hours 36 minutes
    \[{{T}_{6}}\] -
    \[{{T}_{7}}\] -

On a festive day, the speed of train \[{{T}_{2}}\] and the speed of train \[{{T}_{5}}\] are increased by 20% and 30% respectively. Calculate the approximate difference between the time taken by both train \[{{T}_{2}}\] and train \[{{T}_{5}}\] together on that festive day.

    A)  8 hrs 30 minutes

    B)  10 hrs 42 minutes

    C)  9hrs

    D)  8 hrs 36 minutes

    E)  10 hrs 36 minutes

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

    Distance travelled by Train \[{{T}_{2}}\] = 700 km Distance travel by train \[{{T}_{5}}\] = 1000 km Time taken by train \[{{T}_{2}}=\frac{29}{3}\] hours Time taken by train \[{{T}_{5}}=\frac{108}{5}\] hours Speed on festive day speeds: \[{{T}_{2}}\] \[{{T}_{5}}\]    \[\frac{700\times 3}{29}\times \frac{120}{100}\] \[\frac{1000\times 5}{108}\times \frac{130}{100}\]       \[=\frac{2520}{29}\]        \[\frac{1625}{27}\] Time taken by \[{{T}_{2}}=\frac{700\times 29}{2520}\] = 8 hrs 3.3 min Time taken by \[{{T}_{5}}=\frac{1000}{1625}\times 27\] = 16 hours 36 minutes Reqd difference = 16 hr 36 minutes - 8 hours 3.3 minutes = 8 hours 32.7 minutes \[\approx \] 8 hours 30 minutes
