The perimeter of a rectangle is 150m. If the difference between the length and the breadth of the rectangle is 5m, then what is the circumference of the largest circle that can be drawn inside the rectangle?

    A)  88m

    B)  110m

    C)         105m

    D)         96m

    E)  None of these

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

    Perimeter of the rectangle = 2(1 + b) \[\therefore \]2(1 + b) = 150 \[\therefore \] 1 + b =' 75 Now, b + 5 + b = 75 or, 2b = 70 \[\therefore \]\[b=\frac{70}{2}=35m\] The largest circle drawn inside the rectangle will have diameter equal to the breadth of the rectangle. \[\therefore \] Circumference of the circle \[=\pi d\] \[=\frac{22}{7}\times 35=110m\]
