A bag contains 18 apples, out of which 8 are rotten. The remaining apples are in good condition. If three apples are drawn randomly, then what is the probability that one of the apples drawn is rotten?

    A)  \[\frac{105}{375}\]

    B)         \[\frac{15}{34}\]

    C)  \[\frac{5}{34}\]

    D)         \[\frac{113}{375}\]

    E) \[\frac{19}{34}\]

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

    Total no. of apples = 18 \[n(S){{=}^{18}}{{C}_{3}}=\frac{16\times 17\times 18}{1\times 2\times 3}=816\] \[n(E){{=}^{10}}{{C}_{2}}{{\times }^{8}}{{C}_{1}}=45\times 8=360\] \[\therefore P(E)=\frac{n(E)}{n(S)}=\frac{360}{816}=\frac{15}{34}\]
