The intensity of \[X-\]rays eomming out froma coolidge tube is related with wavelength \[\lambda \]. The minimum wavelength found is \[{{\lambda }_{C}}\] and the wavelength of \[{{K}_{\alpha }}\] line is \[{{\lambda }_{K}}\] As the accelerating voltage is increased.

    A)  \[{{\lambda }_{K}}-{{\lambda }_{C}}\] increases

    B)  \[{{\lambda }_{K}}-{{\lambda }_{C}}\] decreases

    C)  \[{{\lambda }_{K}}\] increases

    D)  \[{{\lambda }_{K}}\]  decreases

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

\[{{\lambda }_{K}}\] remains unchanged as V is increased because \[{{\lambda }_{K}}\] is independent of V. \[{{\lambda }_{C}}\] decreases as V is increased because \[{{\lambda }_{C}}\] is inversely proportional to V. Thus \[({{\lambda }_{K}}-{{\lambda }_{C}})\]) will increase on increase of V.
