    Solution :

    For total internal reflection to take place, \[{{\theta }_{c}}<{{45}^{o}}\]or\[\sin {{\theta }_{c}}<\frac{1}{\sqrt{2}}\] \[\Rightarrow \frac{1}{n}<\frac{1}{\sqrt{2}}\,\,\therefore n>\sqrt{2}\]
