  • question_answer
A ray of light along \[x+\sqrt{3}y=\sqrt{3}\] get reflected upon reaching x-axis, the equation of the reflected ray is

    A) \[y=x+\sqrt{3}\]

    B) \[\sqrt{3}y=x-\sqrt{3}\]

    C) \[y=\sqrt{3}x-\sqrt{3}\]

    D) \[\sqrt{3}y=x-1\]

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

    We have, \[(\theta +\theta +{{90}^{o}}-\theta )={{150}^{o}}\Rightarrow \theta ={{60}^{o}}\] \[\Rightarrow \]Slope of line containing reflected ray \[\tan ({{90}^{o}}-{{60}^{o}})=\tan {{30}^{o}}=\frac{1}{\sqrt{3}}\] So, its equation is \[(y-0)=\frac{1}{\sqrt{3}}(x-\sqrt{3})\] \[\Rightarrow \sqrt{3}y=x-\sqrt{3}\]
