    Solution :

    Let the marked price of shirt be Rs. x and that of trouser be Rs. 2x, Let the discount on the trousers be y% .Then, \[x\times \frac{40}{100}+2x\times \frac{y}{100}=3x\times \frac{30}{100}\] \[\Rightarrow \]   \[40x+2xy=90x\] \[\Rightarrow \]   \[2y=90-40\]\[\Rightarrow \]\[y=\frac{50}{2}=25%\]
