  • question_answer
The speeds of A and B are in the ratio 3 : 4. A takes 20 min more than B to reach a destination. In what time does A reach the destination?

    A)  \[1\frac{1}{3}\text{h}\]

    B)  \[2\,\,\text{h}\]

    C)  \[2\frac{2}{3}\,\,\text{h}\]

    D)  \[1\frac{2}{3}\,\,\text{h}\]

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

    Ratio of speeds = 3 : 4 Ratio of time taken = 4 : 3 Let the time taken by A and B be 4x hour and 3xhour respectively. Then,    \[4x-3x=\frac{20}{60}\] \[\Rightarrow \]\[x=\frac{1}{3}\] \[\therefore \]Time taken by A = 4x hour \[=\left( 4\times \frac{1}{3} \right)\text{h}=1\frac{1}{3}\text{h}\]
