Solution :

Let the numbers be x and y and x > y.

According to the question,

\[6\frac{1}{2}%\]of \[x=8\frac{1}{2}%\]of \[y\]

\[\Rightarrow \] \[\frac{13}{2}%\]of \[x=\frac{17}{2}%\]of y

\[\Rightarrow \] \[13x=17y\]\[\Rightarrow \]\[x=\frac{17}{13}y\]

\[\therefore \] \[\frac{17}{13}y-y=1660\]

\[\Rightarrow \] \[\frac{17y-13y}{13}=1660\]\[\Rightarrow \]\[4y=1660\times 13\]

\[\Rightarrow \] \[y=\frac{1660\times 13}{4}=5395\]
