If costs him Rs. 40 in materials and labour to produce item and he has overhead expenses of Rs. 3000 per week in order to operate the plant.     Solution :

    Let the number of items be 'x'. Then, selling price of items = 60x Cost of the material = 40x Overhead expenses = Rs. 3000 \[\therefore \]      \[60x-(40x+3000)=1000\] \[\Rightarrow \]               \[20x=4000\] \[x=\frac{4000}{20}=200\]
