    Solution :

    Speed downstream \[=(8+2)\,\,\text{km/h}=10\text{ km/h}\] Speed upstream\[=(8-2)\,\,km/h=6km/h\] Let the required distance be x km. Then, \[\frac{x}{10}+\frac{x}{6}=\frac{16}{5}\] \[\Rightarrow \]   \[3x+5x=96\] \[\Rightarrow \]   \[8x=96\] \[\Rightarrow \]   \[x=12\] Required distance =12 km
