If the difference between the compound interest and simple interest on a sum at 5% rate of interest per annum for three years is Rs. 36.60, then the sum is

    A) Rs. 8000

    B)  Rs. 8400

    C)  Rs. 4400

    D)  Rs. 4800

    Correct Answer: D

    Solution :

    Difference of SI and CI for 3 vr \[=\frac{PR\,\,(300+R)}{{{100}^{3}}}\] Where   P = Principal, R = Rate of interest \[\therefore \]\[\frac{P\times 25\times 305}{100\times 100\times 100}=36.60\] \[\Rightarrow \]\[P=\frac{36.60\times 100\times 100\times 100}{25\times 305}\]= Rs. 4800
