    Solution :

    Suppose the numbers of parrots are P and the numbers of cows are C.                                  By question, \[P+C=858\]                             ?(i) While    \[2P+4C=1746\]                        ?(ii) Now, from Eq. (ii) \[-\]Eq. (i), we have \[2P+4\text{ }C=1746\] \[(-)\,\,2P+2C=1716\] \[2C=30\] \[\therefore \]      C = 15 and Rs. = 843 So, number of parrots = 843
