What is common among anylase, renin and trypsin?

    A)  These all are proteins

    B)  These all are proteolytic enzymes

    C)  These are produced in stomach

    D)  These act at a PH lower than 7

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

[a] Amylase, rennin and trypsin-all the three are proteinaceous enzymes. However, only rennin and trypsin act on proteins. Amylases breakdown starches and glycogens to sugars. Trypsin is produced by pancreas. It together with chymotrypsin and carboxypeptidase completes the digestion of proteins in the small intestine. Rennin is secreted by stomach of young mammals. It converts soluble caseinogen to the insoluble protein case in which coagulates and therefore, takes longer to leave the stomach.
