(iii) Difficult to plough |
Select the correct answer using the code give below: |
A) i and ii only
B) ii and iii only
C) i only
D) i, ii and iii
Correct Answer: B
Solution :
[b] Black Soils: It is made up of volcanic rocks. This soil is comparable to the chernozem of Russia. It covers an area of 5,\[46,000\,K{{m}^{2}}\]. Tracts in A.P, Maharashtra (Tapi, Godavari, Bhima, and Krishna), Karnataka (Bij apur, Gulbarga, Bidar, Belgaum, Dharwad, and Raichur), Gujarat (Surat, Bharuch, Vadodara), M.P. (Narmada, Vindhya and Satpura plateau), Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan (Kota, Bundi, Jhala-war); U.P (Jalaun, Hamirpur, Banda and Jhansi). The black colour is due to the presence of titaniferous magnetite compound of iron and aluminium silicate. It is also believed that black colour is due to a mixture with hums on cultivation. These are rich in iron, lime, calcium and magnesium carbonate and alumina. Black soils are poor in phosphorus, nitrogen and organic matter. The soil is clayey and has fine texture with dark colour. Crops: cotton, coconut, wheat, chillies, linseed, jowar, Virginia tobacco, castor, millets. It develop cracks in hot weather. Black soils are ideal for dry farming due to their moisture retentive quality. It becomes sticky due to high percentage of clay and so difficult to plough. You need to login to perform this action.
