It was passed by the House of Common on the 15th July and House of Lords on 1601 July. It got the King's assent on 18th July. It got the King's assent on 18th July. It was implemented on 14th of August 1947, with the following provisions: (i) Two independent dominions known as India and Pakistan to be setup on the 15th August, 1947; (ii) Pakistan to comprise of Sind, British Baluchistan, NWFP, West Punjab and East Bengal; (iii) For each province there would be a Governor General appointed by Crown; (iv) Jurisdiction of British Parliament over India will cease from that day and the word of the Emperor of India would be 3 omitted, (v) Governor General would implement the Indian Independence Act; (vi) Indian Army to be divided between these two dominions; (vii) Aden was placed under British government; (viii) Mountbatten become the first Governor General of Pakistan, (ix) Arbitral Tribunal was setup whose President was Patrick Spencer, ex-Chief Justice of India; (x) the British troops withdrew on 28th February 1948.
