    [d] Rihand Dam is a concrete gravity dam located at Pipri in Sonbhadra District in Uttar Pradesh, India. Its reservoir area is on the border of Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. This reservoir is known as Govind Ballabh Pant Sagar. It is on the Rihand River which is the tributary of the Son River. Hirakud Dam is built across the Mahanadi River, about 15 km from Sambalpur in the state of Odisha in India. Behind the dam extends a lake, Hirakud Reservoir, 55 km long. It is one of the first major multipurpose river valley projects started after India's independence. The Gandak Project at Valmikinagar (Bhainsaloton), intercepts water of a catchment (37,410 \[k{{m}^{2}}\]- 90% area is in Nepal) which lies partly in Nepal and partly in India. An Agreement between His Majesty's Government of Nepal and the Government of India on the Gandak Irrigation and Power Project. As a part of this bilateral agreement, the Gandak Barrage, a part of Gandak Project, has been built (1968/69.) over the Gandak river for providing irrigation to Nepal, U.P. and Bihar.
