The spatial distribution of the electric field due to charges (A, B) is shown in the figure. Which one of the following statements is correct?

    A) \[\operatorname{A}\,\,is +ve and\,\,B\,-\,ve and\,\,\left| A \right| > \left| B \right| \]

    B) \[\operatorname{A}\,\,is -ve and\,\,B\,+\,ve;\,\,\left| A \right| = \left| B \right| \]

    C) \[\operatorname{Both} are +ve but\,\,A > B\]

    D) \[Both are -ve but\,\,A > B\]

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

Electric lines of force usually start (i.e., diverge out) from positive charge and end (i.e., converge on negative charge or extends to infinity. Thus, A is positive charge and B is negative charge. Also density of lines A is more than that at B, i.e., \[\left| A \right|\,\,>\,\,\left| B \right|\]
