A monkey of mass 20 kg is holding a vertical rope which breaks under a force of 25 kg . What is the maximum acceleration with which the monkey can climb up the rope?

    A) \[2.5\,m{{s}^{-2}}\]

    B) \[5\,m{{s}^{-2}}\]

    C) \[7.5\,m{{s}^{-2}}\]

    D) \[10\,m{{s}^{-2}}\]

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

    [a] If acceleration of the monkey is 'a? the tension produced in the string is T = m (g +a), where m is mass of the monkey. Maximum value of tension = 25 kg f \[\therefore \text{ }25\times g=20\text{ }\left( g+a \right)\] Taking \[g=10\text{ }m{{s}^{-2}},\] we have \[25\times 10=20\text{ }\left( 10+a \right)\] or a \[\left( \frac{25}{2}-10 \right)\]ms-2=2.5ms-2
