    A) 0.74 kg

    B) 1.14 kg

    C) 1.88 kg

    D) 0.40 kg

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

Let the weight of container be x kg.
    \[\therefore \] Weight of water \[=2.25-x\]
Now, weight of 0.2 part of filled container = 0.77 kg
    \[\therefore \] 0.2 part or \[\frac{1}{5}\] part water's weight \[=0.77-x\]
    \[\therefore \] Weight of water \[=5\,(0.77-x)\]
    \[\Rightarrow \]   \[2.25-x=5\,(0.77-x)\]
    \[\Rightarrow \]   \[4x=3.85-2.25=1.6\]
    \[\Rightarrow \]   \[x=0.4kg\]
So, weight of water in filled container
                \[=2.25-0.4=1.85\,kg\]
\[\therefore \] Weight of 0.4 part of filled container
                \[=(1.85\times 0.4)+0.4=1.14\,kg\]
