A project manager hired 16 men to complete a project in 38 days. However, after 30 days, he realised that only \[\frac{5}{9}th\] of the work is complete. How many more men does he need to hire to complete the project on time?                                                                                                                                      [SBI (PO) 2015]

    A)  48

    B)  24

    C)  32

    D)  16

    E)  36

    Correct Answer: C

    Solution :

    [c] Given, \[{{M}_{1}}=16,\]\[{{D}_{1}}=30,\]\[{{W}_{1}}=\frac{5}{9},\]\[{{M}_{2}}=x,\]
    \[{{D}_{2}}=8,\]\[{{W}_{2}}=\frac{4}{9}\]
    Using the formula,
    \[\frac{{{M}_{1}}{{D}_{1}}}{{{W}_{1}}}=\frac{{{M}_{2}}{{D}_{2}}}{{{W}_{2}}}\]\[\Rightarrow \]\[\frac{16\times 30}{\frac{5}{9}}=\frac{x\times 8}{\frac{4}{9}}\]
    \[\Rightarrow \]   \[\Rightarrow \]\[\Rightarrow \]\[x=48\]
\[\therefore \] More men needed to hire to complete the project on time \[=48-16=32\]men
