    Solution :

    [a] Rate of painting \[=Rs.\,2\,per\,{{m}^{2}}\] \[\therefore \]      Area of the rectangular floor \[=\frac{256}{2}=128{{m}^{2}}\] Let the breadth of floor be x m. Then, length \[=2x\,m\] \[\therefore \]      \[2x\times x=128\] \[\Rightarrow \] \[{{x}^{2}}=\frac{128}{2}=64\]\[\Rightarrow \]\[x=\sqrt{64}=8\]             Hence, length of floor \[=2x=2\times 8=16m\]
