A man has divided his total money in his will in such a way that half of it goes to his wife, \[\frac{2}{3}\]rd of the remaining among his three sons equally and the rest among his four daughters equally. If each daughter gets Rs. 20000, then how much money will each son get?

    A) Rs. 50333.33

    B) Rs. 48233.33

    C) Rs. 53333.33

    D) Data inadequate

    E) None of these

    Correct Answer: C

    Solution :

Let the total money be Rs. x.
    Money goes to wife \[=\frac{x}{2}\]
\[\frac{2}{3}\]of the remaining \[\frac{x}{2}=\frac{x}{3}\]is divided equally among three sons.
    \[\therefore \]The share of each son \[=\frac{1}{3}\times \frac{x}{3}=\frac{x}{9}\]
    So,                   \[\frac{x}{2}-\frac{x}{3}=\frac{x}{6}\]
is divided equally among four daughters.
    \[\therefore \]The share of each daughter\[=\frac{1}{4}\times \frac{x}{6}=\frac{x}{24}\]
    \[\because \]                               \[\frac{x}{24}=20000\]
    \[\Rightarrow \]                           \[x=480000\]
    \[\therefore \]The share of each son\[=\frac{x}{9}=\frac{480000}{9}=\text{Rs}\text{.}\,\,53333.33\]
