Directions: Each question consists of a question and two statements I and II given below it. You have to decide whether the data provided in the statements are sufficient to answer the questions. Read both the statements and choose the appropriate option.                                                                                      [IBPS (PO) 2014]
What is the cost of fencing a rectangular plot along all four sides @\[Rs.\,450per\,{{m}^{2}}\]?
    I. The area of the plot is \[1458\,\,{{m}^{2}},\]which is 54 times the numerical value of its breadth.
II. The length of the plot is 200% of its breadth and the breadth is 50% of its length

    A) The data in statement II alone are sufficient to answer the question, while the data in statement I alone are not sufficient to answer the question

    B) The data either in statement I alone or in statement II alone are sufficient to answer the question

    C) The data in statement I alone are sufficient to answer the question, while the data in statement II alone are not sufficient to answer the question

    D) The data in both statements I and II together are necessary to answer the question

    E) The data even in both statements I and II together are not sufficient to answer the question

    Correct Answer: C

    Solution :

From I, Area of 4 walls of a room
    \[=2\,\,(\text{Length}+\text{Breadth)}\times \text{Height}\]
    \[\therefore \]      \[\text{Breadth}=\frac{1458}{54}=27\,\,m\]
    \[\text{Length}=\frac{1458}{27}=54\,\,m\]
    \[\therefore \]Perimeter of four walls \[=2\,\,(l+b)\]
    \[=2\,\,(54+27)=162\,\,m\]
    \[\therefore \]Cost of fencing a rectangular plot
    \[=162\times 450=\,\,\text{Rs}\text{.}\,\,\text{72900}\]
Hence, the statements I alone is necessary to answer the question.
