A room is \[12\,\,m\] long, \[8\,\,m\] broad and \[10\,\,m\] high. Find the cost of painting the four walls of the room at \[Rs.\,25per\,{{m}^{2}},\] it being given that the doors and window occupy \[35{{m}^{2}}.\]

    A) Rs. 9315

    B) Rs. 9125

    C) Rs. 9240

    D) Rs. 9065

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

Area of the four walls of the room is the lateral surface area \[=2lb+2bh\]
    \[l=12\,\,m,\]\[b=8\,\,m,\]\[h=10\,\,m\]
    Area of the four walls \[=2\times 12\times 10+2\times 8\times 10\]
    \[=400\,\,{{m}^{2}}\]
Total area to be painted \[=400-35=365\,\,{{m}^{2}}\]
Total cost of painting the walls
    \[=365\times 25=\text{Rs}\text{. 9125}\]
