Pradeep invested 20% more than Mohit. Mohit invested 10% less than Raghu. If the total sum of their investment is Rs. 17880, then how much amount did Raghu invest?                         [Corporation Bank (PO) 2011]

    A) Rs. 6000

    B) Rs. 8000

    C) Rs. 7000

    D) Rs. 5000

    E) None of these

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

Let the amount Raghu invested be Rs. x.
Then, amount invested by Mohit \[=x\times \frac{90}{100}=\frac{9x}{10}\]
    Now, amount invested by Pradeep
    \[=\frac{9x}{10}\times \frac{120}{100}=\frac{108x}{100}=\frac{27x}{25}\]
    \[\therefore \]      \[x+\frac{9x}{10}+\frac{27x}{25}=\text{Rs}\text{. 17880}\]
    \[\Rightarrow \]\[\frac{100x+90x+108x}{100}=17880\]
    \[\Rightarrow \]               \[298x=17880\times 100\]
    \[\Rightarrow \]               \[x=\frac{17880\times 100}{298}\]
     \[\therefore \] \[x=60\times 100=\text{Rs}\text{. 6000}\]
