    Solution :

    (a) Given that, \[x:y::2:3\]
    \[\therefore \]      \[\frac{x}{y}=\frac{2}{3}\]                                … (i)                         
    and \[2:x::4:8\]
    \[\therefore \]      \[\frac{2}{x}=\frac{4}{8}\]
    On solving, \[x=\frac{8\times 2}{4}=4\]
    On putting the value of x in Eq. (i), we get \[\frac{4}{y}=\frac{2}{3}\]\[\Rightarrow \]\[y=\frac{3\times 4}{2}=6\].
